On the morning of this Monday, March 28, the National Association of Performers ANDI announced the death of actress and comedian Raquel Pankowsky, who at the age of 69 left this world. “We extend our deepest condolences to their family and friends,” the organization wrote.
So far the causes of his death are unknown. However, two years ago he reported in an interview with Gustavo Adolfo Infante that he suffered from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD); Pankowsky started smoking at the age of 11, so his health deteriorated in recent times.
The actress stood out for her work in theater and film; on television she is remembered for her appearances in Carousel, A Hook to the Heart and Papa a Toda Madre, but the character with which she gained the most popularity was that of “Martita According”, a parody of the wife of former Mexican President Vicente Fox.
And it was precisely the politician who used his Twitter account to speak out for the death of the actress, who for several years performed the imitation of the former first lady in programs such as Desde gayola and El privilegio de mandar.
“For Rachel my admiration and respect. Rest in Peace! A strong hug for his relatives,” wrote the president who ruled Mexico from December 2000 to November 30, 2006.
And thanks to “Martita According”, the now-deceased actress was able to meet Vicente Fox and his wife, who had been told many times before characterizing her that she looked a lot alike.
