Moscow, 22 Mar Russian football club CSKA seeks to lift the sanctions imposed against it after the start of Russia's “special military operation” in Ukraine, as stated today by the team's general director, Roman Babayev. “Naturally we work in this direction, lawyers attend to this matter. We are doing everything possible to achieve the lifting of sanctions,” he told the press, quoted by the Russian agency TASS. The sanctions imposed by the West affected the club, which represents the Russian Army, as the US Treasury Department sanctioned the Russian state corporation VEB and its 25 subsidiary companies, including CSKA. According to Babayev, “there are several variants” to solve this situation, but he avoided giving more details “as yet,” he said, “we have nothing definite.” CSKA is currently ranked third in the Tinkoff tournament of the Russian League Honor Division, with 42 points from 22 matches.
