Goalkeeper Ederson goes down with the Brazilian national team due to gastroenteritis

Sao Paulo, 21 Mar Manchester City's English goalkeeper Ederson Moraes was removed from the Brazilian national team on Monday for gastroenteritis, missing the last two matches of the South American qualifiers for the 2022 Qatar World Cup against Chile and Bolivia. Brazil coach Adenor Leonardo Bachi 'Tite' instead called Éverson, starting goalkeeper of Atlético Mineiro, as reported by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) in a note. Everson will only join the Canarinha rally in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday, when he plans to play with his club against Caldense for the semifinals of the Mineiro Championship, the regional tournament that brings together the best teams from the state of Minas Gerais. The loss of Ederson leaves Alisson Becker, from English Liverpool, as Brazil's first goalkeeper for these last two days of the qualifiers for Qatar 2022, which will be inconsequential for the five-time world champion, as she is already mathematically qualified. In this sense, Tite could choose to rotate the team and give Weverton, from Palmeiras, or Everson himself a chance, either on Thursday against Chile at the Maracana or five days later against Bolivia, in La Paz. In addition to the loss of Ederson are the well-known defender Gabriel Magalhaes, an English Arsenal footballer who was replaced by Felipe, from Atletico Madrid; and the attacker Raphinha, from Leeds United, who tested positive for coronavirus. Tite's team, which has already secured its ticket to Qatar, is the undefeated leader of the South American qualifiers with 39 points and an almost perfect balance of twelve wins and three draws. The match against Argentina, also classified, has yet to be concluded, by order of FIFA, which was suspended a few minutes after starting in September last year, after several Albiceleste players violated the health protocol against covid-19.
