Freddy Freeman returns to the home of the Southern California and Los Angeles Dodgers.
Left was the first free agent in his career, and the Dodgers agreed to a six-year contract of $162 million, according to someone familiar with the agreement he spoke to the Associated Press on Wednesday night, subject to anonymity, since the franchise had not yet announced the signature.
Freeman was named the most valuable player in the National League in 2020. The first baseman helped Atlanta Braves win the Eastern Division title for four consecutive times last season and won the first World Series since 1995.
It was believed that Atlanta would try to secure a Freeman who had never worn another shirt; however, they did not reach an agreement before the closure began in early December and Braves negotiated with Matt Olson, an outstanding first baseman from Oakland, who signed this week's 188 million season, indicating that Freeman's long stay in Atlanta is coming to an end.
Freeman, who participated in five all-star games at the age of 32, competes not far from where he grew up in Orange County.He already lives in the area during a break between seasons. He was a native of Fountain Valley and was a follower of Los Angeles Angels as a child.
The addition of Freeman gives the Dodgers a much more impressive roster. He joined former MVPs Mukie Betts, Cody Bellinger, Trea Turner, Max Muncie, and Justin Turner.The team was already one of the best in the National League last season, with a total of 237 home runs, an average of 5.12 per game, 612 tickets, and 0.759 OPS.
Freeman is the left bat in the middle of the Dodgers' command to replace Corey Caesar, signed as a free agent with the Texas Rangers.
