A background of the Verona stadium will remain empty during the next home match of Hellas, as a result of racist chants against Napoli players Kalidou Koulibaly and Victor Osimhen, the Italian football league announced on Tuesday.

The Senegalese defender was the target of “songs of racial discrimination” during the first half, and the Nigerian attacker in the second half, the League said in a statement, to justify the sanction that points to the 'south curve' of the stadium.

The spectators of that sector were also the origin of “different insulting songs of a territorial nature” against the Napoli supporters who moved to support their team, which won 2-1 thanks to a double from Osimhen, according to the statement.

Before the match, Hellas condemned on Twitter any “act, gesture or expression that could incite hatred, violence and discrimination”, especially as a reaction to the appearance near the stadium of a banner against Naples, the night before the match.

This banner, signed by 'South Curve', alluded to the war in Ukraine and suggested making Naples a target for bombing, with a mention of the geographical coordinates of the capital of Campania.

The penalty will be applied in theory during the next home match of Hellas, on April 3 against Genoa.
