Granada 2 - Atleti 1:Granada squeeze past Atletico Madrid in 2-1 win at the Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes

This result takes Robert Moreno's squad to 22 points in the competition

Granada beats Atletico Madrid 2-1 on Wednesday at the Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes. Granada were looking to pick up points after winning last match. Atleti, on the other hand, were beaten 2-1 in the previous match against Seville. As it stands, Granada and Atleti currently occupy 12th and 5th spots in the table, with 22 points and 29 points respectively after 9 matches.

It was an impressive opening from Atleti, thanks to an early goal from Joao Felix in the 2nd minute. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Darwin Machis equalised for Nasrids at the 17 minute mark, finishing the first half 1-1.

Granada continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Jorge Molina, 61 minutes in. When the final wisthle blew, the result was 2-1 to Granada.

For Granada, Victor Diaz, Sergio Escudero, Yan Eteki, Monchu and Carlos Bacca, came on for Santiago Arias, Darwin Machis, Jorge Molina, Ismael Ruiz Sánchez and Luis Suarez. Atleti replaced Geoffrey Kondogbia, Rodrigo De Paul, Luis Suarez and Yannick Carrasco for Hector Herrera, Angel Correa, Matheus Cunha and Renan Lodi.

There were bookings for Luis Maximiano, Ismael Ruiz Sánchez, Monchu and Raul Torrente from Granada. For Atleti, Rodrigo De Paul saw yellow.

Granada will next play Elche away, with Atleti facing Rayo Vallecano at home.
