Celta Vigo squeeze past Levante in 2-0 win at the Estadio Municipal de Balaidos

Celta take the victory and the points as Levante return home with nothing on Friday

Celta enjoyed a mesmerising home victory against Levante at the Estadio Municipal de Balaidos on Friday. Celta wanted to continue adding points following a disappointing 0-0 draw with Cádiz in their previous game. Levante were beaten 5-1 in the previous match against Villarreal. After today's result, Celta are in 9th place, with 44 points from 34 matches, while Levante sit in 12th, with 38 points from 34.

After an un-eventful first half, Celta certainly were out of the blocks quickly in the second half, with Brais Mendez finding the net, 51 minutes in. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Augusto Solari, on 74 minutes to make it 2-0.

For Celta, Fran Beltran, Nestor Araujo, Aaron Martin, Augusto Solari and Facundo Ferreyra, came on for Renato Tapia, Joseph Aidoo, Jose Fontan, Iago Aspas and Nolito. Levante brought on Ruben Rochina, Jose Luis Morales, Sergio Leon, Jorge Miramon and Cheick Doukoure, to replace Enis Bardhi, Alejandro Cantero, Gonzalo Melero, Oscar Duarte and Rober Pier.

There were bookings for Jose Fontan and Kevin Vazquez from Celta, and Gonzalo Melero and Ruben Vezo, for Levante.

Levante and Celta will next play away to Alaves and Villarreal respectively.
