  • Thirty-one children and one adult were killed on Sunday after fuel exploded on a broken-down bus that was returning from a church event close to the city of Barranquilla. Eighteen people managed to escape the explosion but most of the passengers were unable to get out of the vehicle in time. An investigation is still underway but witnesses say that after the bus broke down, the driver "tried to start it by pouring fuel into the engine." He managed to escape the explosion and is now in police custody.
  • The performance by pop king Michael Jackson (via hologram) was the highlight of the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night. Justin Timberlake was the big winner of the night with seven awards, and had to perform remotely, since he couldn't attend the ceremony. Robin Thicke took four awards and Katy Perry was crowned the top female artist.
  • Indiana Pacers managed to beat Miami Heat 107-96 in the first game of the Eastern Conference Finals. Paul George scored 24 points, David West had 19 and the team never even gave the Heat a chance to tie the score. Game two is on Tuesday, in Indiana.
