Ticketmaster becomes London 2012 Ticketing Services Provider
London 2012 has chosen Ticketmaster as the Official Ticketing Services Provider.
The ticket provider becomes the newest tier 3 sponsor. It will help LOCOG with its ticketing plan and oversee ticket sales for the 2012 Games.
“When tickets go on sale in 2011, we’ll need a reliable solution and a team of world-class ticketing experts in place, ensuring we manage demand and deliver a first-class customer service,” LOCOG Commercial Director Chris Townsend said.
More than nine million tickets will go on sale in 2011 for the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.
Ticketmaster also oversees ticket sales for Commonwealth Games and Rugby World Cups.
London 2012 also partnered with British toy maker Hornby to produce London 2012 toys and collectibles.
The line will include model London buses, taxis and trains and models of the Olympic Stadium.
IPC Continues Athlete Career Program with Adecco
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) will continue its Athlete Career Program with the Adecco Group.
IPC and the HR services provider created the program in 2007 to help athletes transition into the labor market during and at the end of their sport careers.
“The passage from being an athlete to having a career outside the field of play takes the courage and determination that we have learned before in competition and Adecco really helps in applying that to the professional world,” IPC Athletes’ Council member, Katarzyna Rogowiec, said.
The program, an extension of the IOC’s career program, currently has 500 athletes from 25 countries. The 4,000th athlete completed the program this year.
