General Assembly

GAISF’s existence may be nearing a terminus as the umbrella body for international sports federations prepares for a vote on its dissolution. GAISF President Ivo Ferriani used his speech at the virtual general assembly to make his case for dissolution and call for a vote on the matter.

Multiple suspensions were doled out during the recent IFSC General Assembly. The suspensions resulted from discussions surrounding the invasion of Ukraine and actions conducted by the federation’s own Ethics Commission. IOC President Thomas Bach also offered his praise of the federation during opening remarks at the General Assembly.

The draft resolution will be submitted to the United Nations General Assembly instead of the Security Council, in order to seek a “cessation of hostilities” in Ukraine

The Association of Summer Olympic International Federations rescheduled its general assembly following the cancelation of the 2022 SportAccord Summit. The ASOIF Council announced a new host and date for the general assembly, while condemning the invasion of the Ukraine.
