At least ten people were injured after a collision between two public transport units and a private individual on the Mexico-Pachuca highway near Ecatepec, on the morning of Monday, April 4.

According to unofficial reports, the mishap resulted in a car - which was not damaged - abruptly cut off traffic due to speeding, which caused the particular blue sedan type to lose control.

It was then that a passenger combi hit him from the rear after not being able to dodge or brake in time. At the same time, the latter was collided by a bus, just as passengers, owned by the Autotransportes Buendía company.

The three vehicles were stranded towards the retaining wall of the high-speed lane, causing traffic to be closed in four of the five lanes that make up the highway and, with it, severe damage to traffic towards Mexico City (CDMX).

Through its Twitter account, Civil Protection (PC) of Ecatepec reported the facts: “Comrades in pre-hospital care and urban rescue treated several injured people resulting from a road accident on the Mexico Pachuca highway.”

Meanwhile, personnel of the National Guard Highways Division set up a lane for drivers to travel to the capital.

It should be noted that this is the second crash reported this week, this because on March 31 there was also a mishap that left more than 20 people injured.

On the morning of that Thursday, a truck hit a retaining wall located in the collection booth of Ojo de Agua, at kilometer 24+80. According to preliminary reports, the driver would have run out of brakes, so he made the decision to crash into a nearby concrete pillar and avoid impact with other cars.

Some resulted in injuries to the arms and face, mainly the nose, while others were affected in the cervical area. Those who were reported less severe, that is, those who received only a couple of bruises, were treated at the same location.

Meanwhile, 12 users were taken to hospitals in the area for medical care. For his part, the driver remained at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office to present his statements and determine his legal status.

Despite this, testimonies of some passengers spread on social networks stated that the driver of the injured unit was not speeding and that he even warned that he had run out of brakes, so he was going to be shocked.

According to the National Alliance for Road Safety (Anasevi), about 17,000 people die in Mexico due to road accidents. It is estimated that there are around 40 deaths resulting from this type of accident every day. The president of Aanasevi, Arturo Cervantes Trejo, reported on February 22 that in the last decade there have been more than 160,000 deaths caused by road traffic.
