(ATR) El Congreso debe celebrarse de forma presencial y hasta ahora, se mantiene en Lausana

(ATR) El Congreso Electoral de la Federación Internacional de Halterofilia (IWF) fue movido de enero a marzo de 2021 a causa de la pandemia de coronavirus, acordó su Comité Ejecutivo de manera telemática.

En declaraciones a Around the Rings, el peruano José Quiñones, uno de los vicepresidentes de esa organización confirmó el nuevo aplazamiento del importante foro.

Tentativamente, la sede del Congreso se mantiene en Lausana.

"Efectivamente, la sede sigue siendo Lausana, aunque se planea estudiar más opciones en caso de que las restricciones por la pandemia en Suiza obliquen" dijo Quiñones.

Para celebrar las elecciones es requisito la presencia física de los delegados. La IWF cuenta con más de 190 federaciones miembros.

La reunión de varias horas fue encabezada por la presidenta interina de la IWF, la estadounidense Ursula Papandrea, quien ha encabezado un proceso de reformas junto a su ejecutivo tras la renuncia de Tamás Aján en abril pasado.

Numerosos temas coimo el trabajo de la comisión antidopaje, la buena gobernanza, calendario de actividades, aspectos técnicos de las competencias, y en general sobre el accionar de la IWF y el futuro del deporte , fueron analizados por el Comité Ejecutivo, mencionó Quiñones.
