Campaign draws on power of social influencers to fuel SDG action
Seven short-films brought to life by seven unique celebrity advocates will be launched at the United Nations on 16 January. The initiative is a joint endeavor of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and Sustainable Partners, Inc. (SPI), which is led by Adam Met of the alternative rock band AJR.
The films, which focus on the 17 Global Goals, are part of an effort to showcase the utility of digital media for social good. To underscore this effort, up to US$10,000 has been committed to each video that hits 10,000 complete views online. Funding has been made possible with the support of Live Nation and the Foundation for Global Sports Development, and all proceeds will go to organizations working to achieve the Goals.
Films to be screened include shorts from actor Rainn Wilson; Olympic gold medalists Hope Solo and Michael Johnson; Josh Horton: 19-time Guinness World Record Holder; actor, dancer and choreographer Sean Lew; wildlife photographer and TV host Robert Irwin; and the Platinum-Certified alternative rock band AJR.
Prior to being launched online, the films will be screened at a special event at the UN. ‘Eyes on the Goals: An SDG Digital Series Premiere’, will take place on 16 January 2020, from 4:00pm-5:30pm in the ECOSOC Chamber at United Nations Headquarters in New York. RSVP here.
