(ATR) NBC Sports Group was nominated for four Emmy awards for its coverage of the opening ceremony for the 2014 Olympics.
The nominations include: Outstanding Special Class Program, Outstanding Art Direction for a Variety Special, Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction for a Variety Special, and Outstanding Technical Direction/Camerawork/Video Control for a Miniseries.
The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the nominations on Thursday in Los Angeles.
"No single event captures the world’s attention and imagination like an Olympics Opening Ceremony," NBC Olympics executive producer Jim Bell said in a statement.
He added: "These nominations are a welcome recognition of a job well done by many people at NBC Olympics...and of course the brilliant creative team from Sochi."
NBC Sports Group was nominated for five Emmy awards in 2013 for its coverage of the opening ceremony for the London Olympics.That year, NBC Sports Group took home the Emmy forOutstanding Art Direction for Variety or Nonfiction Programming.
Live coverage of the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards Ceremony airs Monday, August 25 on NBC at 8 p.m. EST.
