The government of Uruguay modified the requirements necessary for the entry of people into the country, whether citizens or foreigners. The new decree, signed by the President of the Republic and the corresponding ministers, establishes that a negative test for both PCR and antigens will no longer be required for those who prove that they have been vaccinated against covid-19 more than 14 days before the trip.

Likewise, those who have had the virus between 10 and 90 days prior to entering the country are exempted from submitting a negative test. If they do not meet either of these two requirements, persons who wish to enter Uruguay must present the negative result of a PCR or antigen test carried out no more than 72 hours before the start of the trip. Children under the age of six are exempt from this situation.

Those who are currently suffering from the disease of covid-19 or who have had symptoms within seven days prior to the arrival of the country are those who will not be able to enter the country.

The Executive Power's own decree, however, maintains the recommendations to wear a face mask when contact with other people is less than two meters away, both during the trip and on arrival in Uruguay. In this way, he clarifies, it will be possible to comply with the measures for the prevention of covid-19 infections.

Once the measure is known, the Argentine ambassador to Uruguay, Alberto Iribarne, said that the measure taken by the country is “excellent” and said that it will be less of a problem for the two countries of the Rio de la Plata, emphasized.

Currently, to enter Uruguay, the requirements are as follows:

No podrán ingresar a Uruguay aquellas personas que estén actualmente cursando la enfermedad del covid-19 o quienes hayan tenido síntomas dentro de los siete días previos al arribo del país EFE/Raúl Martínez

Brazil also exempted testing for covid-19 to people traveling with their full vaccination schedule. The last provision of the Brazilian government, dated April 1, established that the certificate of immunity must be presented prior to embarkation into the country and, if the trip is by air or land, it must be at the checkpoints indicated in transit.

If you want to use the vaccination, it must be complete at least 14 days prior to the date of departure. This requirement, obviously, does not apply to those who have contraindicated the vaccine for health reasons endorsed by a doctor. In cases such as this, the foreigner must present a negative result made one day before boarding.

With regard to the format, the passenger must present the certificate in printed or electronic form. This will not work in QR format. It should include the details of the name, trade name of the vaccine, dose and date of application. Non-vaccinated foreigners are prevented from traveling, with exceptions.

Argentina, for its part, established that it is not necessary to present a PCR or negative antigen test to enter the country at the end of January. This applies, provided that it is a citizen of that country, a resident, a foreigner from a neighboring country or a person who has stayed for at least 14 days in a neighbouring country.

Among several measures, it was highlighted that when a person enters with a full vaccination schedule, they will only need to add the affidavit of the National Directorate of Migration within 48 hours prior to the trip to and from the trip. Children who are not vaccinated should not go into isolation before moving around Argentina.

Those who have the incomplete immunity scheme or are not vaccinated, must submit a negative PCR test performed in the country of origin within 72 hours prior to the start of the trip or an antigen test within 48 hours prior to the start of the trip. This is for everyone over the age of six, who must also submit the affidavit.
