This was Napoli's heartfelt message of encouragement to Freddy Rincón

Freddy Eusebio Rincón suffered a traffic accident in the early hours of last Monday, April 11 in the capital of Valle del Cauca, he was later transferred to the Imbanaco Clinic, where it was confirmed that he suffered severe craniocerebral trauma, which is why he underwent surgery. The country has followed the evolution of 'El Coloso', who is one of the most remembered players of that golden era of the Colombian National Team in the 90s.

Laureano Quintero, medical director of the clinic, in the most recent report, delivered last Tuesday, April 13, confirmed that, “Freddy Eusebio Rincón Valencia continues in our Intensive Care Unit where he is receiving care from an interdisciplinary group of professionals, after surgery for trauma severe craniocerebral”.

And he pointed out that, “after this type of procedure it is prudent to monitor the patient's progress, so the medical staff has decided to carry out some additional studies on his brain to determine the steps to follow. At the moment, the patient continues with advanced support measures and his prognosis has not changed.”

Because of this situation, many close to the former player, as well as public figures, footballers, former players, coaches and even clubs have sent a message of encouragement to the Colombian. One of the clubs that demonstrated on social media was Napoli, a team that catapulted Rincón into Europe and allowed him to attract the attention of Real Madrid.

After standing out in Palmeiras, with which he scored 12 goals in 28 matches, Rincón made the leap to Europe, where he signed with Napoli for the 1994 and 1995 season. In the Italian club he had a rapid adaptation process, so he managed to play 28 games and scored seven goals. His enormous physical abilities, his power and strength, made him stand out on the playing field.

After a great season, he finally decided to leave Napoli to sign for another great from the old continent, Real Madrid. Although it was not more than one season in which he played Calcio, he left a mark on the Italian team, who through their official account in Spanish, sent a message of encouragement to 'El Coloso'.

“Our thoughts are with Freddy Rincón after his accident yesterday. We send a lot of strength and our wish that it will soon overcome this difficult moment”, wrote the club on its social networks and its publication already has almost 3,000 likes and more than 200 'retweets'.

Another club that demonstrated with a message of solidarity for Freddy Rincón was Real Madrid, a club in which he failed to find standing out, played 21 games but did not score a single goal. The Spanish club published on its social networks: “From Real Madrid C.F., all our strength and love for Freddy Rincón after the accident suffered today. A lot of encouragement and our hope that he will soon overcome this difficult time.”

Freddy Rincón returned from Europe to play again for Brasileirao and in Corinthians he became one of the leaders of the team that went on to win the first Club World Cup. Coincidentally in this contest he met Real Madrid again; the Colombian was a starter, captain and managed to sign a 2-2 draw.
