Gallardo's anger with a journalist at the press conference
It was a special night that River Plate lived in Peru. It is that beyond the victory in the premiere of the Copa Libertadores group stage against Alianza Lima thanks to the score of Matías Suárez, the serious injury suffered by Paraguayan Robert Rojas after the brutal kick of player Aldair Rodríguez from the team Peruvian overshadowed the visitors' celebration.
Once the match was over at the National Stadium, and as is usually the case on Libertadores dates, Marcelo Gallardo went to the press conference to analyze what left his team's game on the first date of Group F. But something happened in the middle of the press conference when the Muñeco was answering a question to one of the journalists present in the room.
“Have patience, especially to find the right time. Sometimes with better decisions, sometimes not so much with good decisions, but in the last third, where the parties are defined...”. At that moment, River's coach paused for about four seconds, adjusted the microphone and waved to the media representative he was speaking to.
“I'm answering you and you're looking the other way. You don't seem to be interested in my answer,” added El Muñeco, visibly upset by the journalist's attitude.
Despite what happened, the coach riverplatense focused on what left the victory and, as expected, took the opportunity to talk about the injury that Rojas suffered in the final moments of the match.
“It is the bitter taste that remains for us beyond victory, of this visitor's triumph. There the doctors told us that he may have a fracture in his tibia. While this needs to be confirmed by studies, that will take a long time to recover. It's strong, it's going to get ahead, it's going to come back stronger,” Gallardo clarified.
“The diagnosis is a rupture of the tibia and fibula. Robert's fine. El Gordo is a great guy, a very noble person, and he's gonna be fine. We have to accompany him at this time,” added the DT minutes later, confirming the seriousness of what happened to the Paraguayan defender.
For his part, the coach of the Millonaires also took some time to take stock of what he observed from the debut and the variants offered by the squad with the income of hierarchy footballers.
“We are always beyond what we observe and how we should play. We have a variant in the game with different characteristics of the players. We have a game idea, but that doesn't mean that we can't try different ways and the development of the match can change things. Juanfer (quintero) entered first and Matías later, and gave us the possibility to convert”, he concluded.
