“Shame World Corrupball, they robbed Peru, so they kill football,” wrote the former goalkeeper who played the World Cup in France 98′ and South Korea and Japan 2002 with the 'Albirroja'.

Chilavert accompanied his post with a screenshot showing Uruguayan goalkeeper Rochet, apparently with 100% of the ball inside the charrua goal.

Later, when Argentine journalist Martín Liberman wrote the following: “The controversy at the end is a detail. Peru continues to depend on itself to reach the repechage. If he beats Paraguay, he will play with the Asian representative. Colombia and Chile must win and cross their fingers. The points of Ecuador and Uruguay are tangible and it is fair”; Chilavert replied: “They moved him to Peru, it's a detail.”

Peru is in fifth place in the standings of the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers, with 21 points, and on the last date it will receive Paraguay, an eliminated team, but that today he thrashed Ecuador 3-0. For its part, Uruguay qualified for the Qatar 2021 World Cup.

Chilavert on missed goal against Peru

CONTROVERSIAL PLAY

In the minutes of the second-half stoppage, Miguel Trauco threw a cross from the left side that complicated Uruguayan goalkeeper Sergio Rochet, who caught the ball over the line of his goal and backed away, and at first glance, the ball crossed the line.

Despite the controversial move, Brazilian referee Anderson Daronco missed the goal and continued the match. Some players, like Alexander Callens, came to claim me to the head judge.

“I told the referee to check it and he told me he checked it. But I tell him that all people say it's a goal. Now they just showed me the image and it's a complete goal. We've been robbed. It's a robbery, it's a VAR,” said the national team.

“That's all he said to me. I told him to check it out and he said 'we checked it out'. But I told him to go to the VAR. A party of this magnitude cannot happen this,” he added.

Peru has to face Paraguay this Tuesday, March 29 at the National Stadium at 6:30 p.m. in search of victory and fifth place for the Qatar 2022 World Cup repechage.
