Asunción, 22 Mar Paraguay recorded 4 deaths from covid-19 and 160 infections on Tuesday, according to the daily report of the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare. Of the 1,730 samples analyzed, 160 were positive. In this way, the total number of cases recorded since the first covid-19 infection was recorded in the country on March 7, 2020, rose to 647,428. So far, 18,603 people have lost their lives as a result of the disease. The Government of Paraguay announced on February 22 that the decree establishing restrictions to contain the spread of the pandemic has been lifted and will not be extended, given a decline in the numbers of infections and deaths. However, the requirement to wear a mask indoors and to present the vaccination card to enter the country will remain in force. Paraguay is facing its “third wave” of covid-19 after the consecutive increase in cases in several departments (provinces) in recent weeks, although that trend has begun to subside in recent days. On January 10, Paraguay modified its entry requirements by requiring a negative PCR test for all foreigners who want to enter, except those who come from Mercosur (a block that also includes Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay) and neighboring countries. In addition, the full vaccination certificate is required for all visitors, except those living in border cities. CHIEF lb/lll
