Belgrade, 20 Mar Briton David King entered the 60-metre hurdles final of the World Championships on indoor court by the rare draw system to the detriment of Japanese Shusei Nomoto, with whom he had tied to the thousandth in the mark made in separate semifinals (7.57). Nomoto did it in the first race, King in the third, both in third place in their series. The arrival photo could not undo the tiebreaker by thousandths and, according to the regulations, it was necessary to draw to see which of the two won the place of finalist in the repechage. It was a draw for insaculation developed in the call chamber in the presence of the two athletes. On Thursdays they put both their numbers in a black bag, removed it and a woman, looking the other way, took out the Briton's bib, graced with a place in the final. The two athletes embraced each other, happy the British, resigned the Japanese, and the draw was concluded, an hour and a half before the final. CHIEF sn/jad/ism
