When football seemed to have finally ended its last chapter of political tension, news shocked the governing board of the professional soccer league. Cristian Malaspina was elected president of the entity, but the current president, Marcelo Tinelli, made a request to question the electoral process to renew power.
The man who had been in charge of the country's first soccer match since March 2020, when the institution was still named Superliga, had to leave office on April 8 after the elections, but in the last few hours the process remained on standby.
Among the arguments put forward by Tinelli's space were that Maraspina and his board of directors had their tenure until 2023, items not on the agenda of the General Assembly by management, irregularities in the inclusion of Hernánar Boleya (second alternate member of Lanus), the lack of some requirements for the position by other candidates, and the old There is a problem with the Super League.
Maraspinas, the Argentine youth team authority, listed as the first vice president of Tinelli's management, submitted a list that included Hector Maldonado (The Independent), José Alonso (Cologne) and David Garzon (Huracán) as vice-presidents and appointed Abolea as secretary. According to Tinelli, the director of Garnet is not eligible.
