The most voted senator and one of the most recognized politicians of the Democratic Center, María Fernanda Cabal, in recent months has shown her disagreement about the issues and decisions that have been taken within Uribism. One of his first fights began because of his marked differences with the President of the Republic, Iván Duque, because despite the fact that they share ideas, there have been strong clashes, as in the issue of the legalization of weapons.

After this, his defeat against Oscar Iván Zuluaga to be endorsed by his party for the presidential elections, further marked his stance and distance from the government sector and even the top leader of the Democratic Center, Álvaro Uribe Vélez. And now, after Zuluaga's resignation from his candidacy to join Federico Gutiérrez, the representative of the Team for Colombia, he soon expressed his concern.

In an interview with RCN Mundo, he pointed out that he needs to clarify his doubts with the former mayor of Medellín, since he believes that it is a risk that represents the continuity of the current government and that he does not have a clear position as to whether he will join this campaign.

“My fear is that Federico Gutiérrez will be a Duke Two. I want to clear my doubts, I have questions to ask you. If it reaches the contest and we have to face a radical left, we are obviously going to have to accompany the opposing candidate,” Cabal told the Colombian broadcaster and noted that it wants to be sure of the position to take because it does not want to put its voters at risk.

He added that he is waiting for decisions to be made within the party so that he can give his definitive opinion on the candidate of the Team for Colombia: “Today we have a meeting at the Democratic Center because we have to make decisions regardless of Oscar Iván Zuluaga's personal decision. The party has to decide what it is going to do, if it is expected and leaves its constituents free. The country first above one, of the votes,” said the senator.

On the other hand, he referred to Gustavo Petro's presidential candidacy and the support he has received. From the senator's point of view, the leader of the left has been very strategic and that has brought her fruit, although she does not think that will work for her to win.

Gustavo Petro is the same, by 27%, the rest is pure 'alharaca'. The center right is always much bigger. What he did was smart, because he joined parties that always went to the contest and took their seats and that united in the Historical Pact led by Petro, who is the natural leader of the left and the far left,” argued the Senator of the Governing Party, adding: “Gustavo Petro has no one to challenge him in that radical niche. Petro is not going to have it easy, let alone selling the idea that he will win in the first round, that is practically impossible. This was done by Álvaro Uribe after a period of government, of coming out with 80% popularity in his re-election.”
