Lazio unable to avoid narrow defeat away to Fiorentina (2-0)

Fiorentina enjoyed a mesmerising home victory against Lazio at Stadio Artemio Franchi on Saturday. Fiorentina wanted to improve their league standing after a 3-3 draw against Bologna. Lazio were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Genoa and AC Milan. After today's result, Fiorentina are in 13th place, with 38 points from 35 matches, while Lazio sit in 6th, with 64 points from 35.

The Purple One found the net first, thanks to a goal from Dusan Vlahovic in the 32nd minute. The score at half time was 1-0.

Fiorentina continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Dusan Vlahovic finding the net again just before the final whistle. The final result, Fiorentina 2, Lazio 0.

For Fiorentina, Sofyan Amrabat, Christian Kouame and Lucas Martinez Quarta, came on for Giacomo Bonaventura, Franck Ribery and Gaetano Castrovilli. Lazio brought on Luiz Felipe, Andreas Pereira, Danilo Cataldi, Jean Akpa and Vedat Muriqi, to replace Manuel Lazzari, Senad Lulic, Lucas Leiva, Luis Alberto and Stefan Radu.

The referee booked Lorenzo Venuti, Dusan Vlahovic, German Pezzella and Martin Caceres from Fiorentina. Lazio had the worst of it though, with Francesco Acerbi, Lucas Leiva, Stefan Radu, Luiz Felipe, Andreas Pereira, Danilo Cataldi and Jean Akpa seeing yellow, and Andreas Pereira (2 yellow cards) then sent off with a red.

Fiorentina will next travel to Cagliari, while Lazio will face Parma at home.
