Seville squeeze past Celta Vigo in 4-3 win at the Estadio Municipal de Balaidos

Celta welcome Seville to the Estadio Municipal de Balaidos, but are left stunned after Seville take all 3 points

Celta on home loss to Seville at the Estadio Municipal de Balaidos on Monday. Both teams arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Celta were looking to continue their run after winning last match. Seville were coming off the back of a 1-0 win against Atletico Madrid. As things stand, Celta and Seville currently occupy 10th and 4th spots in the table, with 37 points and 61 points respectively after 30 matches.

Seville started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, thanks to Jules Kounde giving Seville the lead after only 7 minutes. However, they were unable to maintain their lead, Iago Aspas managed to equalize and take the sides off at the 20 minute mark at 1-1. The momentum was now with The Sky Blues, who then scored again through a 2nd effort from Iago Aspas, 24 minutes in to establish a 2-1. However, their lead was short-lived, as an equalizer from Fernando at the 35 minute mark, brought Seville level. Celta in turn, then responded just before half-time increasing their lead with an effort from Brais Mendez, to take a 3-2 lead into half time.

Seville continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Ivan Rakitic finding the net in the 60th minute. However they weren't finished yet and Papu Gomez made it 4-3, 76 minutes in to make it 4-3.

For Celta, Facundo Ferreyra, Fran Beltran and Miguel Baeza, came on for Youssef En-Nesyri, Joan Jordan, Suso, Ivan Rakitic and Jesus Navas. Seville replaced Luuk De Jong, Oliver Torres, Papu Gomez, Nemanja Gudelj and Munir El Haddadi with Youssef En-Nesyri, Joan Jordan, Suso, Ivan Rakitic and Jesus Navas.

There were bookings for Iago Aspas, Hugo Mallo and Brais Mendez from Celta, and Jules Kounde and Diego Carlos, for Seville.

Seville and Celta will next play away to Levante and Real Sociedad respectively.
