In the 2017/2018 season, soybean was affected by bad weather conditions. All this situation complicated the quality of the oilseed, where in many lots appeared pods opening, shelling, sprouts and disease development.

The Laboratory of Industrial Quality and Value Added of Cereals and Oilseeds of INTA Marcos Juárez, has long been analyzing samples of soybeans that come from cooperatives and stockpiles of the core zone with the purpose of knowing the quality of the harvest of each year.
Martha Cuniberti, benchmark of the INTA Laboratory Marcos Juárez, said that this year 989,000 tonnes were analyzed between soybeans of first and second crops.

"With regard to the first soybeans, heterogeneity was observed in the grain size, with a tendency to small, but good looking, slightly green, dry and hard, while in the second, the damage in filling grain was greater, with small grains, of different caliber, greater presence of green and sprouted grains, "said the specialist.

It should be recalled that this situation of loss of quality in soybeans, gave the producer a significant discount in the price he receives when marketing the oilseed, which led to serious economic problems for the producer.

To cope with this situation, the new wheat campaign is presented as a great opportunity for those producers who have a serious financial situation.

"The benefits in the rotation are increasingly seen. The costs in weed control are increasingly important. If there are not too many surprises, the planting of corn can grow to occupy 1,300,000 hectares in the 2018/19 cycle" , expressed from the BCR.
