(ATR) After leaving Brasilia the Olympic Torch is visiting the sights of Goias State.
The Rio 2016 Torch Relay began on May 3 in Brasilia before travelling around the Federal District. Immediately after, the torch began its journey in Goias, the state from which the Federal District is carved into.
On May 4, 81 torchbearers carried the flame through the towns of Corumba de Goias, Pirenopolis and Anapolis, described by Rio 2016 as some of the main tourist attractions in the state. In this leg of the relay the torch visited the Vagafogo Life Sanctuary, a nature preserve in Goias, and scaled down the Abade water fall near the town of Pirenopolis.
The day wrapped up in Anapolis, where the final torchbearer lit a cauldron in Ipiranga Park to commemorate finishing the second day of the relay.
On May 5 over 160 torchbearers will carry the torch as it continues the journey through Goias. The cities of Itaberaí, Goiás, Inhumas and Goiânia will be visited, with the torch traveling by cable car, train, and oxcart during the day.
As part of the relay, the music group Zé Pereira and Porão Cênico art group will perform during the stops in Itaberaí and Inhumas respectively. After the relay has finished for the day music group Jota Quest will perform as part of celebrations with the Rio 2016 cauldron.
In state capital Goiânia the flame will travel a distance of over 20 kilometers throughout the city, visiting the major government buildings and through three parks - Vaca Brava, Areião and Parque de Diversões Mutirama.
The flame will spend the next two days in Goias before it travels south to the state of Minas Gerais.
