PANAM SPORTS READY TO CELEBRATE THE 1000 DAY COUNTDOWN TO SANTIAGO 2023

Despite the pandemic, Chileans are working tirelessly to deliver the first Pan American Games organized in their country.

This Saturday marks the 1,000 Days to Go Milestone, with a special event scheduled for Monday to commemorate the countdown in the community that will be home to the Pan American Village.

The beautiful country of Chile is waiting for the greatest athletes of the Americas with open arms, including its President Sebastian Piñera.

apan and the IOC stood firm on Friday on its commitment to host the Tokyo Olympics this year.

The Japan Government denied a report in The Times of a possible cancellation.

"We will clearly deny the report," said Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Manabu Sakai in a news conference.

"We have at this moment, no reason whatsoever to believe that the Olympic Games in Tokyo will not open on the July 23 in the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo," said IOC President, Thomas Bach.

The IOC in a statement said that "Some News reports circulating today are claiming that the government of Japan privately concluded that the Tokyo Olympics will have to be cancelled because of the Coronavirus, is categorically untrue."

Panam Sports President Neven Ilic was unanimously re-elected to lead Americas' Olympic Movement at the General Assembly held virtually in December. During the two-day meeting, the new Members of the Panam Sports Executive Committee were also elected to lead sport in the Americas for the next four years.
