Olympic Day all year in Sweden

Olympic Day is not only June 23rd in Sweden. Every year in Stockholm, Malmoe and Gothenburg children from local schools gather to try Olympic sports, during 2019 it’s a total of ten days. The program started in 2011 and have reached more than 150 000 kids so far.

During 2019 kids have so far tried out winter sports in the Stockholm suburb of Spånga in February and tried all sorts of sports in Gothenburg in May. In Malmoe a couple of weeks ago focus shifted to the new Olympics sports such as skateboard, climbing and basket 3x3.

-The new sports will make the Olympic movement grow even further. It’s a perfect match for us to attract youth to our Olympic Days, says Peter Reinebo, CEO Swedish Olympic Committee.

The goal with Olympic Day in Sweden is for every child to find a sport and will also be conducted in in the King´s Garden in the middle of Stockholm during 2019. The Swedish Olympic Committee has conducted more then 230 Olympic Days since 2011, attracting more than 150,000 children.
