(ATR) President of the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation Ivo Ferriani tells Around the Rings it’s hard to pass on the opportunity to award the 2024 and 2028 Olympics this September.

"The two candidates we have now – Los Angeles and Paris – they are strong, strong candidates," Ferriani tells ATR on the latest ATRadio from the SportAccord Convention in Denmark.

"We have two strong candidates and it is good for the IOC and I think we have to consider maybe awarding both," he says. "The quality of cities is so good it may not be so easy to lose this chance."

The International Olympic Committee has established a working group to determine the feasibility of awarding the 2024 and 2028 Games after three cities dropped from the bid race to host in 2024.

Ferriani, who became an IOC member in June, believes the current bidding process will not run into the same issues in the Winter 2026 race.

"The important thing is the quality of applications," Ferriani says. "For 2026, I’m sure we’ll have good applicants. I’m sure we will have good numbers of application, but more than that, quality numbers of applications."

Ferriani is also preparing his federation for the upcoming PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics next February. He says the ice track in South Korea is now functional and the IBSF and its athletes are ready to showcase their sport.
