(ATR) IOC President Thomas Bach is looking for the next big ideas for the IOC and Olympic Movement to embrace.

Following the regular monthly virtual meeting of the IOC Executive Board Dec. 7, three days of consultations are on tap with IOC staff and the 15 members of the EB.

The meetings are supposed to "assess the results of Olympic Agenda 2020" and to include in-depth discussions about a future roadmap" says an IOC release.

Agenda 2020 is an array of 40+ recommendations for change across the realm of the IOC adopted in 2013, shortly after Bach was elected IOC President. As the only candidate to declare for election next March to a new term, the results of this week’s discussions should lead to a framework for Bach’s final four years as president.

The week concludes with Bach convening the annual Olympic Summit on Dec. 12, the ninth of these conclaves.

"The Olympic Summit brings together leading representatives of the Olympic Movement. It forms part of the ongoing dialogue and consultation on important issues and subjects of significance for the future of the Olympic Movement", says the IOC release on the meeting.

Progress toward the postponed Olympics in Tokyo is among the topics on the agenda.

The group varies from year to year but generally includes the IOC President, the four vice presidents and representatives of international federations and national Olympic committees.

Customarily the meeting lasts an entire day, held usually at IOC headquarters in Lausanne. But in a virtual format for the first time, adjustments will be made to accommodate the diverse time zones of the participants. This year’s summit is expected to last about two hours.

The summit is closed to the public with the IOC issuing a communiqué at the end of the meeting.
