La course au large fera-t-elle ses débuts dans le programme de la voile olympique aux Jeux de Paris 2024 ? La réponse semblait acquise depuis la décision de la Fédération internationale, World Sailing, de l’inclure parmi les dix séries proposées au CIO. L’instance présidée par le Danois Kim Andersen l’avait voté à une écrasante majorité lors de son assemblée générale en novembre 2018 à Sarasota (Etats-Unis).

A quelques semaines de la décision de la commission exécutive du CIO sur le choix définitif des disciplines retenues pour les Jeux de Paris 2024, annoncée pour le mois de décembre, le doute s’installe. Au sein de World Sailing, le clan des conservateurs s’organise et serait passé à l’offensive. Opposés à l’entrée de la course au large dans le programme olympique, ils espèrent convaincre Thomas Bach et la commission exécutive.

Pour Nicolas Hénard (photo ci-dessous), le président de la Fédération française de voile (FFV), ardent militant de la présence de la course au large aux Jeux de Paris 2024, la discipline coche pourtant toutes les cases. Il l’a expliqué à FrancsJeux.
