(ATR) A double whammy from the corona pandemic and postponement of the Tokyo Olympics has hit the world’s top national Olympic committee.
In this edition of the ATRadio podcast, US Olympic and Paralympic Committee CEO Sarah Hirshland talks to Around the Rings Editor Ed Hula about the upheaval of corona and disruption of the Tokyo date change.
While she is optimistic for recovery, the short term brings an army of challenges. She says the market for new Olympic sponsors is challenging, there’s uncertainty about revenue from Tokyo and not much interest right now in a Salt Lake City Winter Olympic bid.
Hirshland says innovation will emerge on the other side of the crisis to chart new directions for sport.
