With regard to Operação Jules Rimet, FIFA has requested MATCH Hospitality to investigate into the alleged unauthorized use of Hospitality packages by a group involving Mohamadou Lamine Fofana and his company Atlanta Sportif Management.
MATCH Hospitality is authorized and appointed by FIFA as the worldwide exclusive rights holder of the FIFA Hospitality Programme. The FIFA Hospitality Programme offers guests 6 different levels of Hospitality Packages, comprised of match tickets together with a wide range of high-end services and special facilities at the stadiums on match days (including private suites, lounges and marquee tents), gourmet catering, parking, entertainment and/or gifts. MATCH Hospitality has appointed a global sales network of agents to promote and market the Hospitality Packages. MATCH Hospitality has sold in excess of 290,000 Hospitality Packages to some 11,400 corporate and private customers. All sales have been carried out on the basis of contractual agreements featuring stringent terms and conditions to which sales agents and customers are bound to adhere, most specifically prohibiting the resale of such Hospitality Packages.
As a customer of MATCH Hospitality, Atlanta Sportif purchased Hospitality Packages comprised of an aggregate of 105 Hospitality Packages in total over 7 Matches of the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ worth US$121,750. As part of the Hospitality Sales Agreement, Atlanta Sportif accepted the Hospitality Sales Regulations, including a strict prohibition to resell any of the Hospitality Packages purchased by Atlanta Sportif.
Based on the breach of its contractual obligations evidenced by police media statements and arrest of Lamine Fofana, CEO of Atlanta Sportif, engaging in illegal resales, MATCH Hospitality has cancelled all Hospitality Packages purchased by Atlanta Sportif for the remaining matches of the 2014 FIFA World Cup™.
59 of the Hospitality Package Tickets seized in the arrest were imprinted with the name Reliance Industries Limited. As customer of MATCH Hospitality, Reliance Industries purchased Hospitality Products comprised of access to a private suite for all matches in Rio, Sao Paolo and Belo Horizonte, for an aggregate of 304 Hospitality Packages in total over 19 Matches of the 2014 FIFA World Cup™, worth US$1,200,000. As part of the Hospitality Sales Agreement, Reliance Industriesaccepted the Hospitality Sales Regulations, including a strict prohibition to resale any of the Hospitality Packages.
Another seized Hospitality Package Ticket was imprinted with the name Jet Set Sports. It was allocated pursuant to a proposal through Jet Set Sports, which is an agent of MATCH Hospitality, to an individual resident in Australia, who purchased an aggregate of 40 hospitality packages in total over 2 Matches of the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ worthUS$108,250. As part of the Hospitality Sales Agreement, the customer accepted the Hospitality Sales Regulations, including a strict prohibition to resale any of the Hospitality Packages.
Another seized Hospitality Package Ticket was imprinted with the name Pamodzi Sports. It was allocated to Pamodzi Sports, which is an agent of MATCH Hospitality. As part of its agency arrangement, Pamodzi secured private suites and business seats for an aggregate of 350 Hospitality Packages in total over 18 Matches of the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ worth US$1,250,000. As part of its agency agreement, Pamodzi agreed to strict terms and conditions in the way it may distribute and promote Hospitality Packages.
Pending further investigations, MATCH Hospitality will block the packages of Reliance Industries Ltd., Jet Set Sports and Pamodzi. The customers and agents mentioned above are to cooperate with MATCH Hospitality by helping the authorities with their enquiries regarding the hospitality packages with their names on them found in Mr. Fofana’s possession, failing which, MATCH Hospitality will cancel their Tickets for the Semi-final and the Final too.
Depending on the findings, which will be shared with the authorities and FIFA, MATCH Hospitality reserves all rights to take legal action against its sales agents and/or customers that may have violated the terms and conditions set forth below.
MATCH Hospitality will be fully assisting the police in investigating the matter. It is important to highlight that so far no MATCH Hospitality staff member has been implicated with anything.
MATCH Hospitality will continue to investigate and cooperate with all tickets seized by police, tracing their path to any illegal resale, and remains committed to preventing the illegal resale of 2014 FIFA World Cup tickets
