COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado -- With the COVID-19 crisis continuing to unfold around the world, USA Weightlifting today announced new measures to support the medical professionals who put their health on the line every day battling the pandemic.

A generous donor has agreed to cover the cost of new memberships or membership renewals for front-line healthcare workers.

The relief will be available to RNs, CNAs, EMTs, MDs, DOs, and any medical professional working in a frontline medical facility together with paramedics, firefighters, medical military and police. Anyone wishing to receive financial help may apply here to have their one-year USA Weightlifting membership renewed or created. Applications will be accepted from April 1 to July 1, 2020.

"We are speechless. We cannot thank this donor enough for stepping up," USA Weightlifting CEO Phil Andrews said. "This initial gift of $5,000 will go a long way in recognizing the sacrifice these brave Americans are making."

Furthermore, this week the Chinese Weightlifting Federation announced it was donating 500 masks to USA Weightlifting. These masks will in turn be donated to UCHealth, which serves the community of Colorado Springs.

"Thank you to our friends at the Chinese Weightlifting Federation for their generosity during this difficult time," Andrews said.

The USA Weightlifting community is extremely grateful for the work these members are doing to combat the COVID-19 pandemic on the front lines.
