‘The right city, with the right vision at the right moment': Paris 2024 engages with international federations to share its project led by a team that can be trusted’

The Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Bid Committee today departed SportAccord Convention 2017 promising that it will stage the most spectacular Games ever. The Paris 2024 bid was in Aarhus, Denmark, for SportAccord 2017, where it delivered a presentation to the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) and held invaluable discussions on its vision to stage Games of passion and purpose.

Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo joined Paris 2024 bid co-chair and three-time Olympic champion Tony Estanguet, and Paris 2024 CEO Etienne Thobois at the ASOIF General Assembly delivering a presentation declaring that Paris 2024 is the right city, with the right vision, at the right time. The bid’s presentation focussed on iconic landmarks - such as the Eiffel Tower, Champs-Elysees, Chateau de Versailles and Grand Palais - that will provide the spectacular backdrop for competition in 2024. Games led by athletes and driven by sustainability and innovative technology will welcome the world to its streets, turning the world's most visited destination into a never before seen Olympic Park.

With 95% of venues already existing or temporary, Paris promises a low risk Games that will connect with the youth of France and provide a lasting sporting and social legacy for the next generations. Paris is also offering a tailor made Games for athletes with an ultra-compact plan that ensures 85% of venues will be within 30 minutes of the athletes village.

Paris 2024 bid co-Chairman and 3x Olympic Champion, Tony Estanguet, said:

"Our promise to the IFs and the wider Olympic Family is that we will host the most spectacular Games ever and to do that you have to be open to learning from everyone involved. That is why SportAccord 2017 has been a special event. We are grateful with the opportunity to come and talk with the International Federations who will help us to deliver Games that are truly defining in the modern era. Paris 2024 is the right city, with the right vision, at the right time, and we are looking forward to taking this message with us all the way to the final decision in September."

Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, said:

"Being here at SportAccord has been a special experience for me. I met many inspiring people who are on this journey towards 2024 with Paris. Our City stand in the convention has been a hub of activity, and we have welcomed everyone to come and sample the very best of our city. One in five Parisians was born outside France and this means we are a city that looks outwards and it is this mindset of openness that will be a defining characteristic of a Paris 2024 Games."

Paris 2024 bid CEO, Etienne Thobois, added:

"Paris 2024 promises to be a unique celebration of sport that will leave a lasting social legacy for the people of Paris and France. With Generation 2024, the rejuvenation of Seine-Saint-Denis including a new Olympic size swimming pool, a radical plan around Olympic Schools Week, 100 million Euros being spent to upgrade community facilities, and a new youth Paralympic National Training Centre, we will ensure that Olympism touches the lives of everyone in France."
