Scott has been the world number one men's golfer since May 25.

Last week’s British Open began the qualification cycle with Irishman Rory McIlroy winning the major.

McIlroy moved to the number two overall spot, knocking Swede Henrik Stenson down to number three. Americans Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson sit at 9 and 13 respectively.

The top 15 golfers will receive automatic births to the Rio Olympic tournament, as well as the top two golfers from each country. A total of 60 golfers will be invited, and no more than four golfers from the same country will be allowed to take part.

American Stacy Lewis currently is the world’s number one women’s golfer, leading qualification with two years to go. The full list of women’s rankings can be found here.
