(ATR) The International Cycling Federation requested that track alterations be made to the BMX course at the Deodoro Olympic Park delaying the discipline's test event.

UCI made the request to Rio 2016 organizers on Oct. 2 after athletes tried the track. The test event was originally scheduled to take place on Oct. 3-4, but competition will now only take place on Oct. 4.

Rio officials will work on Oct. 3 to make "small adjustments" to the track a Rio 2016 spokesperson told Around the Rings.

"Taking into account feedback from the athletes, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) has requested Rio 2016 to make a number of alterations to further increase both the excitement and the safety of the track,"Rio 2016 and UCI said in a statement.

"The athletes’ feedback is important and we are taking steps with the UCI to ensure that we deliver the best track for the Games and the test event."

The BMX course was the first venue deemed complete at the Deodoro Olympic Park.
