Panam Sports president Neven Ilic had a good start trying to develop and grow the organization in America, but now he’s become more attached to politics rather than doing the job he was hired to do, manage Panam Sports.

It’s time to show results, and it time to do it without spending the money of other sources.

Panam Sports needs to be sustainable and self-sufficient.

First and foremost, Ilic needs to concentrate on doing the job for which he was elected, delivering the results that are expected from him.

Not long ago, the Panam Games were sustainable and necessary for the development of sports in the region. But lately, they have not been able to deliver through their marketing, any new contract with sponsors. Additionally, it looks they are losing the sole paying broadcaster they had in America. The organization appears to be in chaos, running in circles, with no clear direction or strategy for the future.

Broadcaster and sponsor relations is something which needs to be done by a professional team, and Panam Sports has yet to appoint one. Ilic must look to the future and achieve tangible results for the benefit of sports in America.

He also needs to understand that in this environment, with a global pandemic and financial concerns, putting additional pressure on the National Olympic Committees (NOC) by creating more games will only increase the problems of funding for many countries. Panam Sports might be the ones organizing the games, but the NOCs are the ones who pay the bills for preparing the athletes.

Medals should be won by competing fairly against the best athletes, and this was clearly not the case in the during the Cali 2021 Games.

The quality of the competition has yet to be evaluated, but the idea needs to be developed and managed in a serious and professional way. Otherwise, Panam Sports will never show serious interest from TV broadcasters.

There is no question about the importance of the younger generation, but the issue remains how to make all of these ideas sustainable. Not just from a sporting viewpoint but an economic one as well. This does not appear to be on Ilic’s agenda currently.

There is trust Ilic will make all the necessary efforts to learn what’s needs to be done, but his main focus should be doing the job he was elected to do, and nothing else.

Panam Sports needs to regroup and find sponsors and broadcasters in order to be sustainable. A big challenge awaits them, and it’s unclear if Ilic is up to the task.

Ilic needs to address the real issues and start delivering in the benefit of the sport of the Americas.
