Rio 2016 Partnership
Rio 2016 and Sebrae, the Brazilian Micro and Small Enterprises Support Service, will partner to promote small and micro businesses ahead of the 2016 Olympics.
A statement from the organizing committee says the deal is"aimed at qualifying potential Rio 2016™ suppliers to meet the event’s demands while contributing to boosting Brazilian supply chains in a sustainable way."
Sebrae will act as the go-between helping small business manage contracts with Rio 2016.
Printing services, laundry, uniforms, and housing modules will be the initial category priorities.
"We are committed to helping Brazilian enterprises on their path to meet the high standards of the Olympic and Paralympic demands," said Sidney Levy, Rio 2016 Chief Executive Officer.
"Technical excellence and transparency, together with concern for sustainability in all the stages of our project, are the basic principles that guide our planning for the procurement of goods and services. The partnership with Sebrae is fundamental in order to ensure we all follow the same path."
Manchester United Poised to Unveil Aeroflot as Official Airline
World Football INSIDER understands that Manchester United will unveil Aeroflot as their official airline in the coming days.
"The airline partnership announcement could come as early as next week," a Russian source told INSIDER.
The Russian national carrier will replace Turkish Airlines in a multimillion dollar deal.
United decided not to extend its three-and-a-half year partnership with Turkish Airlines, Europe's fourth largest airline, in favour of a more lucrative deal with Aeroflot.
Aeroflot will join United’s top-tier partners who include Aon, DHL, Nike, Chevrolet, Bwin and Thomas Cook.
The Aeroflot deal, first tipped by the Daily Mail in April, also follows a wave of partnerships announced by United in recent months, including regional sponsorships in Iceland, Mexico, Japan, Thailand and Vietnam.
United embark on their Asian pre-season tour, presented by Aon, next week.
The Aeroflot deal comes at a transitional time for the Premier League champions, whose new manager David Moyes held his first press conference today after taking over from Alex Ferguson.
Ed Woodward took over from Man Utd’s long-serving CEO David Gill at the start of the month. Gill, vice chairman of the Football Association, was elected onto the UEFA Executive Committee at its May congress.
Under the new management structure, commercial director Richard Arnold was promoted to group managing director and now oversees all commercial and operational aspects of United.
In February, United announced that it was on course to hit financial targets for the year thanks to chalking up six sponsorship deals in three months. The club racked up record revenue of $171 million in the second quarter of the 2012 financial year.
Manchester City Unveil Thai Soft Drink Sponsorship
Manchester City have partnered with Thailand’s est Cola brand in a bid to grow the club’spresence in the south-east Asian country.
The new two-year sponsorhip will see est Cola become the club’s "Official Soft Drinks Partner in Thailand".
The news was announced today in Bangkok by City’s Micah Richards and Scott Sinclair, who are currently visiting the country’s capital as part of the club’s pre-season promotional tour.
In the weeklong visit, players will take part in partnership activations and meet local Blues fans, before jetting off to the Indonesian capital, Jakarta.
Commenting on the partnership, Tom Glick, City’s chief commercial & operating officer, described est Cola as a young dynamic brand with huge potential. It is said to have taken the Thai soft drink market by storm in only its second year of trading.
"The scale and speed of their success demonstrates Thailand’s appetite for brands that are not only innovative, but ambitious also. We’re proud to be part of est Cola’s journey and look forward to working together to engage and inspire Thailand’s legions of football fans," he said in a statement.
He added: "Thailand is a huge market for the club, which is why we’re delighted to soon be launching a Thai version of the Manchester City website.
"Set to go live in July, the new website will satisfy the demand from City’s millions of fans from around the country to be able to view the latest news and content in Thai."
Under the deal, est Cola has filmed a TV advert with City players that will be aired on TVs in homes across the country’s 69 million strong population.
City players and the club crest will also feature in both below and above the line advertising campaigns and in store point-of-sale.
