Neven Ilic: "We are Confident Cali will have Successful Junior Pan American Games"

The President of Panam Sports is in Cali participating in the first official visit of the Games. On his first day in Cali, Neven Ilic he toured venues and met with local media.

Today he travels to Quibdo to inaugurate a multi-court sports facility and on Wednesday he will meet with Colombia’s President Ivan Duque.

CALI, COLOMBIA (October 1, 2019) — Panam Sports President Neven Ilic will spend a total of 72 hours in his first official visit to Cali, Colombia along with the Panam Sports Coordination Commission. Ilic is touring the primary sports facilities that will be used to host the inaugural Junior Pan American Games in history in the beautiful city of Cali.

On the first day of the visit, Neven Ilic participated in the Orientation seminar between Panam Sports leaders and the Organizing Committee of the Cali 2021 Junior Pan Am Games. The group then toured different sports venues and concluded with a press conference at the historic Pascual Guerrero Olympic Stadium.

"The truth is that it is an honor for me to be in Cali for the first time. I have toured the facilities and they meet all the conditions. Of course you have to beautify them a bit as well as their surroundings and paint a little, but this city is the perfect place to host these Games. With the joy and warmth of the people and their experience in hosting sporting events, we are confident that Cali will have successful Junior Pan American Games," said President Neven Ilic.

Panam Sports was also able to talk with the Governor of Valle del Cauca, Dilian Francisca Toro who was very happy with the visit by the leaders of the Pan American Sports Organization and confirmed once again her commitment to the Cali 2021 Games.

"In 2021, the Junior Pan American Games will be held but at the same time we will be celebrating 50 years since the Pan American Games were held in Cali and that fills us with satisfaction. We are very happy with this visit from Panam Sports, and very grateful to them for choosing us, and we are sure that they will fall in love with the Valle del Cauca," said Governor Dilian Francisca Toro.

President Neven Ilic travels today to the city of Quibdo to inaugurate a multi-court facility that was financed thanks to the contributions of Panam Sports and the Olympamerica Program along with resources from the International Development Bank (IDB). The activity is organized by the Colombian Olympic Committee which is also directs this noble cause to bring sport development to a vulnerable area of this Colombian city.

On Wednesday, President Neven Ilic is scheduled to meet the President of Colombia, Iván Duque, in Bogota.
