(ATR)Lillehammer is celebrating the one-year countdown to the second Winter Youth Olympic Games.

Magne Vikøren, head of marketing and communications for Lillehammer 2016, says that public support will be "vital" over the next 364 days.

Vikøren says Lillehammer hopes the Winter YOG will enhance its reputation on the international sports stage.

"Lillehammer hopes set its stamp as one of the best sporting destinations in the world."

The 2016 Winter YOG will take place Feb. 12-21. Organizers say over 1,000 young athletes (ages 15-18) from 70 nations will compete in 70 medal events.
