(ATR) The Jordan Olympic Committee have issued a four year strategy for sport for the next Olympic cycle.

The strategy was presented by secretary general Nasser Majali.

"As the lead organisation for sport in Jordan, we are confident that this ambitious strategic plan will elevate Jordanian sport to a higher level, both here at home and on the international stage," Majali said in a statement.

The new initiative describes five "strategic drivers" with topics including ensuring safety and development of the country's athletes along with boosting standards of national federations.

According to the strategy, the Jordan Olympic Committee intends to send 20 athletes to Tokyo 2020 compared to the eight athletes who participated in the last Summer Games.
