(ATR) The Organizing Committee for Incheon 2014 has named two Olympians as goodwill ambassadors for the upcoming Asian Games.
Olympic speed skating champion Lee Sang-hwa and short track gold medalist Park Seung-hi were appointed on Monday as goodwill ambassadors for the 17th Asian Games in Incheon. Both athletes competed for the South Korea national team and won gold medals in Sochi.
Kim Young-soo, head of the Asian Games organizing committee, believes that using winter sports athletes to promote a summer sports competition will be a symbol of unanimity.
"We hope our winter sports stars can deliver a message of harmony for 4.5 billion people on the continent of Asia," Kim said.
Lee Sang-hwa and Park Seung-hi join athletes such as Olympic swimming champ Park Tae-hwan, former Olympic marathon silver medalist Lee Bong-joo, Major League Baseball outfielder Choo Shin-soo, and PGA Tour veteran Choi Kyoung-ju on the list of honorary ambassadors for the Asiad.
