The Budapest2024 delegation has returned from the XX Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) General Assembly and the 2nd ANOC Gala Awards energised and enthused. President of the Hungarian National Olympic Committee (HOC), Zsolt Borkai; International Olympic Committee member and Honorary President of HOC, Pal Schmitt; Government Commissioner and Bid Leader, Balazs Furjes and other representatives from the National Olympic Committee have spent the last week in Washington DC meeting members of the International Olympic Committee and National Olympic Committees from around the world.

"Having the opportunity to observe, listen and share our vision for our bid for the Summer Olympic Games in 2024 enthused and excited both myself and the team." Furjes said "This week has reassured me that we are preparing a strong bid which builds on our existing city plans for transport and urban development. Budapest is a city with sport at its heart."

Borkai mentioned "During our visit we were honoured to receive confirmation that International Olympic Committee President, Mr Thomas Bach, will be joining us to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the Hungarian National Olympic Committee in December. This is a milestone for sport and we will be sharing our sporting heritage and success with the President and our people".

Furjes added "Every day we are moving forward as a City, building and developing at a rapid pace. For example, whilst we have been in the USA, the USD 740 million investment in Budapest’s famed Városliget (Central Park) providing an improved green space for sport and leisure for families and young people has been announced. Our plans to build a 15,000-square-metre football stadium have also been confirmed this week. The 5,322-seat Hidegkuti Nándor stadium will be completed by the end of August 2016."
