Gwangju Universiade hosts the EPICS FORUM 2014 Presentation Competition

2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade Organizing Committee (hereafter GUOC 2015) will

be hosting the EPICS FORUM 2014 this upcoming August and are recruiting local and

international university students to take part in the EPICS FORUM Presentation

Competition (hereafter PT Competition), which will be a part of the forum program.

This PT Competition will be held under the theme ‘Sport Meets Art & Culture’ and provide

the opportunity for local and international university students to showcase their unique

perspectives and ideas to distinguished guests and youths worldwide through

presentations given in English.

Anyone who is currently enrolled in university or grad school, locally or internationally,

or is currently taking a leave of absence from school are eligible to apply for the

competition. Each group must consist of at least 3 to 5 members.

All applicants must submit their application form, presentation file (in powerpoint

format), a video recording of the presentation (5~7 minutes) and a photo of the applicants

holding a banner of the EPICS FORUM 2014. All documents must be submitted to

epics@gwangju2015.com by July 25th.

1st evaluation will be made by a team of experts and they will select 5 teams, which will

be posted on the official Gwanjgu Universiade website (www.gwangju2015.kr,

www.gwangju2015.com) and FORUM website (www.epicspeaker.org) on August 1st. Final

evaluation will be voted by the invited speakers and attendants during the EPICS FORUM

2014.

First prize (3 million Korean won) will be given to one team while the Second prize (2

million Korean won) and Third prize (1 million Korean won) will be given to two teams

each. All winners will also receive a UNOSDP-GUOC Award Certificate, along with the

prize money.

Airfare sponsorship, for direct Korean Air flights, will be granted by UNOSDP (United

Nations Office on Sport for Development and Peace) to up to 6 applicants from 2~3

international teams to fly to Gwangju to participate in the final round. More competition

Meanwhile, the EPICS Forum is being held annually from 2013 to 2015 jointly by GUOC

and UNOSDP. It is purposed to promote the values of UNOSDP, which pursues sport for

development and peace, and the four visionary concepts of the Gwangju Universiade,

EPIC (Eco, Peace, IT and Culture), throughout the world.
