Mario Pescante, IOC Vice President, #22

Pescante, 71, elected an IOC vice president in Copenhagen, is also the IOC observer at the United Nations, a new status granted by the General Assembly this year. Pescante’s work will define whether insider status for the IOC at the U.N. amounts to anything more than window dressing.

Gian Franco Kasper, FIS-Ski President #23

The International Ski Federation President will be in the midst of the action come February during the Vancouver Olympics. Kasper, 65, will also have influence in the post-2010 Olympic program review that will determine any changes for 2014, including the addition of women’s ski jumping.

The Golden 25 is a compilation of those individuals who will have the greatest influence in the Olympic Movement during the coming year. The entire list is available at Around the Rings by clicking here.
