(ATR) Edmonton, Canada has appointed TSE Consulting to work on its bid for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

A long-term client of TSE Consulting, the capital of Alberta last hosted the Commonwealth Games in 1978, two years after Montreal hosted the 1976 Summer Olympics.

TSE consulted for Lima on its successful 2019 Pan American Games bid and Denmark on its 2018 ISAF World Championships and 2018 IIHF World Championships bids.

"We look forward to continuing our work with Edmonton on this exciting project,"TSE managing directorLars Haue-Pedersen said in a statement.

"Edmonton is a city with a strong and clearly defined sports event strategy and to bring the Commonwealth there in 2022 just makes a lot of sense – for Edmonton and the Commonwealth Games movement.

"We are very excited to be part of this vision and, together with the Edmonton bid committee, we will develop a strong bid building on Edmonton’s experience in organizing world class events."

The Edmonton 2022 bid committee will make its first official announcement on Tuesday, July 1.

Durban, South Africa is also vying to host the 2022 Commonwealth Games. A host city will be selected in September 2015.
