Canada's Capital City, Ottawa, strengthens its sporting ambitions

The City of Ottawa, Canada's Capital, has put in place a new event team that has its eye on attracting national and international sports events and congresses to the vibrant city. The City's first victory came early as FIFA recently announced Ottawa as a host city for the 2015 Women's World Cup.

Ottawa, one of the world's most beautiful cities, borders the province of Quebec creating a dynamic cultural milieu in which both French and English cultures are deeply rooted. The result is a truly cosmopolitan experience - a North American city with a distinct European charm and flair.

Ottawa is an experienced host with a resume that includes, among others, the 2012 NHL All-Star weekend, the 2009 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships, 2008 HomeSense Skate Canada Internationals, and the hugely successful FIFA U20 World Cup Canada 2007.

The new focus on attracting events, announced earlier this year by Ottawa's Mayor, Jim Watson, has sparked the development of a comprehensive event strategy that will allow the city to clearly outline its objectives in hosting events and identify its priority targets for the coming year. Working together with TSE, Ottawa is excited to further develop its international profile in international sport.

Ottawa is looking forward to attending SportAccord in Quebec City to develop relationships and discuss opportunities with the leaders in international sport.
