(ATR) The Bank of China is the first sponsor to lend its support to both a Summer and Winter Olympics in the same city.

Bank of China penned the deal with the Beijing 2022 Winter Games on July 13, also becoming the organizing committee’s first Official Partner. The sponsorship deal opens up the marketing program for Beijing 2022.

"Marketing program is an important guarantee for the Winter Olympic Games, and provides wide platform for the participating enterprises to speed up brand promotion and strengthen competitive advantage," Beijing 2022 executive president Chen Jining said, according to Xinhua.

The bank is retaining its "official banking partner" title for Beijing 2022 that it held at the Beijing 2008 Games. Bank of China will provide commercial banking, investment banking services and financial products to the OCOG, China Olympic Committee and Chinese delegation at the Games.

Linear Olympic Channel Begins in the United States

Executives at NBC and the IOC tell Around the Rings bringing the Olympic Channel to televisions in the United States fills the goal of connecting Americans to the Games 24 hours a day.

Starting July 15, "The Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA" will be available as a cable channel in over 35 million homes. NBC executives say that number should jump to over 40 million in the coming months. Kicking off the channel will be a special from Mike Tirico, the lead prime time Olympics broadcaster on NBC.

The channel, produced by NBC, the United States Olympic Committee, and the IOC, will broadcast 24 hours a day. Offerings available on the linear channel will be available online for subscribers. NBC says it will broadcast Olympic Channel programming on other NBC stations such as NBC Sports Network.

Cisco Connects to Gold Coast

Hardware needed to run networks at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games will come from Cisco.

The information technology company announced an agreement with the Gold Coast organizing committee this week to provide connectivity technology. Technology supplied will provide WiFi and cabled networks for all athletes, officials, and media. Gold Coast estimates around 25,000 devices will be connected using the technology.

"The work we do behind the scenes means the athletes can take the centre stage," Ken Boal, Vice President of Cisco Australia and New Zealand said in a statement. "At Cisco, we have an incredible team with proven experience in delivering the network technology platforms for multiple Commonwealth & Olympic Games. This, combined with our leading technology, will help ensure the Games is a connected and inclusive event."
