(ATR) Yonhap News Agency will serve as the official newswire of the 2014 Asian Games.

The South Korean news outlet will provide real time news for the Asiad as well as serving as the official English-language newspaper of the games.

Throughout the event, the 2014 Organizing Committee will post stories from Yonhap on the Asian Games website. Articles published online will be available in seven languages.

"Building a cooperative partnership with Yonhap News should go a long way toward promoting this competition," Kim Young-soo, head of the 2014 Asian Games Organizing Committee, said in a statement.

Yonhap previously served as the official news agency for the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, South Korea and the 2002 FIFA World Cup hosted by South Korea and Japan.

The agency boasts over 600 reporters with 62 correspondents in 35 countries worldwide.
